GLOBAL EXPEDITIONS
“Here am I. Send Me.” -Isaiah

The world in which we live seems to be getting smaller. Of course, we know that physically this is not the case but the current day technologies allow us to be “global” on a daily basis. What once seemed unthinkable is today a reality. With a simple phone call, email or with a few mouse clicks on the internet we can now easily reach around the world in a matter of seconds. Yet, despite all of this technology, there are thousands in the world that still have never heard the gospel message of God’s forgiveness and hope for their lives.
While technology can provide us with tools that will aid in the sharing of the good news of Jesus Christ, it seems that God’s plan is still for us to personally share the message of hope and love to human kind around the world. Matthew 28: 19-20 says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you . . . ”
Tomorrow will bring new methods that will help to share the gospel message but nothing will ever replace the redeemed, child of God sharing one-on-one their story of how God rescued and changed their lives.
For many years now the International Youth & Christian Education Department has facilitated the Great Commission through the ministry entitled STEP—Short Term Evangelism Partners. While this has served us well, we are changing and updating this ministry outreach. The new focus will be called Global Expeditions. The objective will be to engage students and leaders in a hands-on experience where they can fulfill the mandate of Matthew 28:19.
What is Global Expeditions?
“We talk of the second coming;
half the world has never heard of the first.”
- Oswald J. Smith
